(Isabella H. de Carvalho. Aleteia).

A few days after returning from his 12-day tour of Asia and Oceania — the longest trip of his pontificate, both in terms of days and distance — Pope Francis seems in surprisingly good shape, despite his 87 years.

On September 18, 2024, as he does every Wednesday, Pope Francis presided over the general audience before thousands of faithful gathered in St. Peter’s Square. Arriving in his popemobile, he drove through the crowd, smiling and stopping regularly to bless the children.

Fr. Albert Boudaud, Papua New Guinea’s oldest missionary

Camille Dalmas. Aleteia

A journalist colleague with a sharp eye noticed this elderly man with a goatee sitting on a bench at the Mary Help of Christians shrine in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. Cooling himself under a large ceiling fan, Fr. Albert Boudaud had come to listen to Pope Francis and flinched a little when he was addressed in French, as if he hadn’t heard it for 10 years. “I’m sorry, I’ve forgotten my French,” apologized this modest old man, who nevertheless spoke his native tongue with a certain elegance throughout the interview.

Pope Francis showered with gifts on his longest ever flight

Camille Dalmas. Aleteia

On every international trip, Pope Francis is in the habit of greeting journalists one by one at their seats on the plane. This friendly routine usually lasts around 20 minutes and provides an opportunity for these professionals who are daily tuned into the pope to exchange a few words with him. But it also leads, with increasing regularity, to a strange merry-go-round.

Aleteia

“It truly seems that today’s science, suddenly going back millions of centuries, has succeeded in witnessing this primordial ‘Fiat lux,’ when a sea of light and radiation burst forth from nothingness with matter, as the particles of chemical elements split and assembled into millions of galaxies.” On November 22, 1951, before the members of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, Pius XII proposed an analogy between the “Big Bang” — a hypothesis formulated a quarter century earlier in 1927 — and the original beginning described in the opening lines of Genesis.

Red flags para detectar maltrato infantil

(Karen Hutch. Aleteia).

El maltrato infantil se puede dar de maneras distintas y en diferentes espacios, como en los lugares que aparentemente son más seguros. Presta atención a las siguientes red flags
